InetSoft has also become a full committee member on the BIRT PMC, committing multiple developers to the project. Among the many Open Source Business Intelligence projects, InetSoft selected BIRT because of the Eclipse user community support and successful track record of meaningful development. The BIRT project is governed by Eclipse foundation policies that ensure a vendor neutral and open environment for contributions. By contributing extensive reporting and business intelligence experience to the BIRT community, InetSoft looks to help advance BIRT from an Open Source project toward an open-standard reporting component.
InetSoft joins existing members from Actuate, IBM Corporation and Innovent Solutions as a Member on the Eclipse BIRT PMC, the committee responsible for the management of the BIRT open source project.
"InetSoft is very pleased to become a member of the Eclipse Foundation and is excited to help in shaping industry standards for Open Source Business Intelligence, as a committee member on the BIRT PMC team," said Larry Liang, InetSoft’s Chief Architect and Co-Founder. "InetSoft believes that our commitment will help motivate other leading BI and reporting vendors to join the Eclipse Foundation and the BIRT team." Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation, said, "It will be exciting to see the results from two leading BI solution providers in defining a platform for Open Source Business Intelligence. We welcome the contributions from InetSoft and their developer community to our efforts."
"The BIRT PMC is extremely happy to have another leading Java-experienced BI vendor contribute to the BIRT project," said Wenfeng Li, Eclipse BIRT PMC Lead. "We believe that multi-vendor participation is vital to the success of the project and are pleased to have InetSoft become a member of the BIRT committee." BIRT software is the only Open Source Eclipse project centered on Business Intelligence and reporting, and one of 10 top-level Eclipse Projects. According to Industry analysts, Eclipse expands the visibility of business intelligence and reporting to a wide audience of developers. These developers require easy-to-use tools, such as BIRT, to decrease development costs associated with the core application functions of reporting and analysis.
