New Style Report™ Version 4.4 Announced with Enhanced Report Security
Piscataway, NJ – May 9, 2002 - InetSoft Technology, a leading provider of Web reporting solutions, has released version 4.4 of Style Report™. The 4.4 release includes a variety of new features, some of which include new row level security, a Web-based portal, a new entity-relationship data-binding model, and a much enhanced Query Builder.
The innovative row-level/column-level security model allows for a very fine-grain data protection schema. Business users will be assigned different roles in an organization and precise data privileges will be automatically granted. User authentication, role, and permission schemas can be automatically integrated with LDAP or any other security provider. This security model is far superior to static security models such as page-level security. In static security models, access privilege information is tied to each individual report and careful page arrangement must be decided upon at report design time.
Any security change will impact all existing reports. Moreover, the page-level security model is typically only useful for batch-generated reports where pages are static. Style Report’s row-level/column-level model applies to both real time and batch reports and can be dynamically managed by administrative functions. This creates a report management environment where minimal logic would be needed to create even the most complex security scheme.
Furthermore, Style Report/Enterprise Edition allows end users to login to a portal specifically customized & designed to suit the end user’s needs. End users can change the theme, look, feel, and formatting right from a browser. Additionally, end users will now find that they can create reports from scratch with ad hoc queries – turning plain data into actionable information, which will actively dictate intelligent business decisions and management.
Finally, tying it all together for the report developer, Style Report implements a new entity-relationship data binding model, which allows for the most precise control of one’s data and business logic. Style Report lets the report developer define both physical and logical views into data in order to allow for the creation of virtual private models, which may then be assigned to individual roles. For the report developer implementing complex security schemes, it is not only fast, but also easily maintained.
