New Style Report Version 4.0 with Report Archiving and Versioning Capability

Piscataway, NJ - April 13, 2001 - InetSoft Technology, the industry leader in Java Reporting tools, has released Style Report™ version 4.0. Version 4.0 includes a plethora of new features, some of which include: an archiving & versioning system, Excel (.xls) file generation, and enhanced functionality in the Visual Designer.

The report archiving and versioning system permits batch and on-demand reports to be saved in multiple versions and multiple formats with a minimal space requirement. Style Report/EE archiving and versioning allow not only for the storage of static reports such as XML and PDF, but also for report object storage. With this unique and innovative capability, fully interactive reports can be recreated from the archiving system. Furthermore, the archiving system is controlled under a flexible security system.

Style Report's archiving and versioning system uses CVS as the back-end versioning system, by default, in both Windows and Unix; however, any back-end versioning system can be used in place of CVS. The archive system not only allows users the ability to save reports to an archive, it also allows them to manage those reports in a logical fashion; users have the ability to apply rules that determine how to save and delete reports of a specific age, date, or report version. Users are also given the flexibility to schedule when reports will be saved to or deleted from the archive. Archived reports can be saved in their original format or in another format of choice.

Style Report™ 4.0 introduces extended export capabilities with the addition of .xls (Excel Format) generation. Programmers can generate Excel files from both the StyleSheet or StylePage objects. The headers, footers, and page breaks are all placed as they should be, and the charts are embedded as Excel Chart Objects; these objects are not images within the Excel file, and therefore are fully interactive and flexible. Reports in Excel format can be opened with both Excel 97 and Excel 2000.

"This new version of Style Report greatly increases the capabilities and ease of use of the reports generated," said InetSoft's Marketing Director, Luke Liang. "Archiving and versioning certainly takes our reporting system to the next level. Utilization of CVS as our default back-end demonstrates InetSoft's commitment to open standard technology and allows our customers to take advantage of a mature software in the new context of reporting."
