BI Performance Management - InetSoft CEO joins a discussion of BI and performance management. If you look at effective deployment of BI and performance management software, it has to be aligned within those business processes. That means the strategy has to be inserted into the DNA of these business processes. That’s number one. Number two is organizations in the last years have increasingly focused on growth. Remember how in 2000 a lot of focus was on cost control. Now, the focus again is on growth. And growth really happens through innovations called business network transformation. Business network transformation is happening with many products, and the pace of change is ever increasing. To give you some quantifiable examples, a new acquisition is happening at every 20 minutes, and a new product is launched every 3.5 minutes. Really to be sustainable advantage there needs to be a business model or network change. Agility is required. That means collaboration. This means intelligent cooperation, and collaboration needs to happen between different stakeholders with the respective business processes that they deploy. So business intelligence has to be operationalized, has to be pervasive in the organization, used by as many people as possible...

Big Data Technologies to Improve a Company's Performance - So when you talk about what is the opportunity for big data technologies to improve a company’s performance, and what we don’t see organizations doing much of, yet, what you might call the next frontier, is not just analyze the transactions that happen from those interactions online but get a better sense of customer behavior and customer interactions that precede a transaction. The state of the art for most marketing teams today is looking at last click attribution. Whatever Web page you were on right before making a product purchase, that Web page gets a hundred percent of the credit for the marketing campaign measurement for driving that transaction. We know that is just not true. Most consumers, no matter what they’re buying, whether they’re buying a pair of shows, a new pair of pants, it’s going to take them six to eight different touches from an organization before they make a purchasing decision. So getting smarter about how we not only get visibility into consumer behavior, but how we actually quantify what impact interactions have had with the consumer before is really important to bringing the science of data into the art of marketing...

Building a Balanced Card System - Finally, you need a disciplined way of building a balanced card system. Most of the times when we go in to a client actually about 40% of our business comes from clients who call and say, I have a balanced scorecard, and like the old Wendy’s commercial where the little old grandmother says, where is the beef? We get a lot of where is the beef calls? And I have three questions when somebody calls like that. Tell me the story of value creation from your strategy map. Well, we really didn’t do that, you know, we skipped that step. We didn’t think it was very important. How many measures do you have? 250. Really? How many initiatives do you have? 430. You know a red flag goes up three times on something like that because you know what they are doing is calling what they have a balance scorecard. Folks a balance scorecard means vastly different things to different people. It is a generic term, and it has been applied in very different ways. To some it’s little more than a performance measurement dashboard...

Business Intelligence Performance Management - the case for evaluating InetSoft's business intelligence performance management software, about monitoring dashboards, analytical dashboards, how they are the primary view into business performance and the way to analyze why performance is deviating from target, favorably or unfavorably...

Business Performance Management - InetSoft CEO joins a discussion of business intelligence and business performance management. We help people think about the business processes that affect them every day and how they can be improved. And secondly we take those process improvement ideas and turn them into running solutions fast and when I say fast, I mean deployed in less than 90 days from conception to fully running. And then we partner with our customers across the full process lifecycle - from first project deployment, all the way on to enterprise deployment through on to business process outsourcing. And we work with a variety of large customers like Motorola and Morgan Stanley to make that happen. And how we see the intersection of business intelligence and BPM, myself, coming at it from years spent at Business Objects and in the BI space, it’s very simple. BI talks about performance management software, and it’s key to getting the analytic tools and the data and information that you need to run your business more effectively. But all the data and analytics in the world are worthless if no one understands how they inform the process of how people actually do their jobs on a daily basis...

Call Center Performance Management - Next let’s talk about another real life example. This one is from the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, and I think everyone is familiar with their mission of course which is guaranteeing pensions around the country. In their call center performance management project, they wanted to evaluate three customer touch points. Those were the phone system, the customer care staff, and written communications. Now what's interesting is if you look at where they were, the phone system was poorly rated. The other areas rated about average, and so in most organizations I think the obvious choice if you are going to invest a little bit of money, would be to invest in the phone system. Well in this case the phone system to upgrade the phone system was going to be a very expensive investment, and they really wanted to think carefully was it worth it, just because something is not rated well, or something is not performing up to the level that you would like it to, does that really have an impact on the bottom-line or on customer satisfaction. In this case it turned out they did not have to invest in the phones. So you know by doing in evaluation you can see what the real investment should be. You don’t want to spend too much money in areas that do not give you the outcomes you are looking for...

Call Center Performance Monitoring - So let’s take a look at this example of a pre-built call center performance monitoring dashboard. There is a team of users, and it pulls from approximately 70 tables and 3 systems loaded in-memory, call record details, alumni data, and student data. It’s loaded and refreshed every night. This can be refreshed however you like, but the point is its pulling these tables from different sources. It can be accessed either by client PC or a mobile device since it’s running in a web portal. We have no pre-set hypothesis to answer these questions. You need to fish in the data or you might call it mucking around in the data to see what really is driving performance. You want the data to tell the story and then make decisions on it and do it in a collaborative ways so it needs to be fast and engaging. Let’s take a look. Let me pop out of the PowerPoint and open our call center project. So the way this is organized there are 10 tabs of this project, and it’s organized by theme. There is a page here on callers which is looking at statistics by the caller. For example, in these groups there were 463,000 calls made. There is the first person Maria. She made 16,000 calls, and she got 178 pledges, which is one percent, which is lower than the average of the whole group...

Cash Management Dashboards and What KPIs to Track - Your business's cash flow is like its lifeblood. You can't have a business if you don't have cash flow. That is why you must regularly monitor your company's health, in other words, its cash flow. And this is where cash management dashboards come into play. Your cash flow dashboard, like a heartbeat monitor, allows you to track important metrics for your business. It allows you to monitor every move of your business and help in its overall success. This article will explain what a cash management dashboard is and what KPIs are tracked on it. What Is a Cash Management Dashboard? A cash management dashboard tracks a company's immediate spending power and cash. It is a collection of indicators used to monitor your company over time that will tell you how you're doing and quickly reveal variations that may require corrective action. Because of the timing of income and expenditure, revenue models do not always reflect a company's immediate cash position, that's why company owners and finance directors must track cash flow separately from revenue. Cash and liquidity dashboards display real-time data from cash reporting and forecasting processes and systems that are most important to businesses and their audiences. Furthermore, they concentrate all of their attention on a single version of the truth that is simple to understand and digest...
